The Festival

Santiago Wild was founded in 2019 with the goal of becoming a meeting place for audiovisual creators and storytellers focused on nature and the environment across Latin America.

Created by the media outlet Ladera Sur, which brings together a community of thousands of nature enthusiasts, the Festival has established itself as a platform to develop and promote talent throughout the region. We live in a wild continent that needs a voice — one that tells its stories through those who live them.

Through an international competition, workshops, talks, labs, and a variety of projects, the Santiago Wild Film Festival seeks to create as many opportunities as possible to build an audiovisual community capable of making an impact worldwide.

Hybrid Festival (Online & In-Person)

The Festival has held five editions to date. During its first two years, the Festival took place entirely online (during the global pandemic), and since 2023 it has adopted a hybrid format.

The Festival features a free online program, while in-person activities include a Summit, as well as a series of events and screenings in the city of Santiago, Chile. In addition, each year an Audiovisual Lab is held in different locations across the country, where scholarship recipients learn from leaders in the audiovisual industry about science communication and the creation of high-impact audiovisual projects.

The Andean puma is the Festival’s main icon. This native feline roams the entire American continent, from Alaska to Patagonia, and represents the Festival’s highest award. It is also the central figure of each year’s official poster.
