Suhas Premkumar is a wildlife filmmaker, naturalist, and the driving force behind Little Planet Film, a creative initiative dedicated to raising awareness about wildlife and nature conservation.
Suhas has spent over a decade crafting captivating visual stories that inspire a deeper connection with the natural world. His work is deeply rooted in the Western Ghats, where he spends considerable time documenting the region’s diverse wildlife and ecosystems. As a certified naturalist and recognized eco-volunteer with the Karnataka Forest Department, he has been closely associated with the department for over a decade, providing training and creating impactful documentaries that showcase the richness and fragility of the region’s biodiversity. Little Planet Film, his most ambitious project to date, was filmed over the course of 10 years. This extraordinary undertaking demanded immense resilience and commitment, as Suhas and his team overcame countless challenges, including torrential rains and relentless leeches, to bring to life the untamed beauty of the region. Recognized by National Geographic (in 2011) for his exceptional wildlife photography, Suhas achieves a perfect fusion between art and conservation. He holds a diploma in film from the QAI (Queensland Film Institute), UK, and uses his expertise to create documentaries that challenge perceptions and encourage action to protect nature for future generations.
Beyond film, Suhas is committed to environmental education. He regularly leads environmental education programs, sharing his knowledge and passion with diverse audiences, from young students to seasoned conservationists.
