Sonam Choekyi Lama

Choekyi is a director and cinematographer originally from the remote Dolpo region of Nepal, in the Himalayas. In her debut feature, Choekyi’s profound knowledge of the culture and landscape brings an authentic, raw, and emotional understanding to the screen.

In 2024, Choekyi received a directing scholarship to the Documentary Visual Arts School at the International Center of Photography in New York.
