Joao Amorim
João Amorim is a filmmaker specializing in documentaries and children’s content. He directed the feature film “2012: Time of Change,” starring David Lynch, Sting, Elliott Page, and Gilberto Gil, and was the animation director for “Chicago 10,” which opened the Sundance Film Festival in 2007 and earned him an Emmy nomination in 2009. He has worked as an animation director in New York and as a professor at New York University (NYU), Parsons, and the Academy of Art College. His notable projects include the series “É Coisa Nossa!”, “Survival Manual for the 21st Century,” starring Marcos Palmeira, and “Bela Raízes,” with Bela Gil, as well as his work on the Brazilian production of Sesame Street between 2014 and 2020. João also directed two seasons of the series “Thiago & Ísis e os Segredos do Brasil.” In 2024, he released the documentary “Tropical Utopia” in theaters, starring Celso Amorim and Noam Chomsky. In 2025, he released the feature film “Thiago & Ísis e os Biomas do Brasil” and the second season of “Survival Manual for the 21st Century” on Canal Futura and Globoplay. He is currently directing the project “Hoho e o Som do Brasil,” a co-production between Amorim Filmes (Brazil) and CCTV (China).
