Jack Weisman
Jack Weisman aspires to create visually stunning and original films that defy easy categorization. His creative nonfiction works have premiered at numerous festivals, including Sundance, SXSW, TIFF, and IDFA. His breakout short film, Nuisance Bear (2022), co-directed with Gabriela Osio Vanden, offers a fascinating silent study of polar bears navigating human-dominated landscapes in Churchill, Manitoba. The film received widespread acclaim, earning a place on the shortlist for the 95th Academy Awards, two Emmy nominations, and top honors at the Cinema Eye Honors, the Critics’ Choice Documentary Awards, and the IDA Documentary Awards. Jack’s first feature film is slated for release in 2026 and is produced by A24, Documist, and Rise Films. Weisman is the co-founder of Documist, an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning production company based in New York and Toronto. He was the executive producer of The Territory (2022). The Territory premiered at Sundance, where it won the Audience Award for Best World Cinema Documentary and a Special Jury Prize, and is now available on Disney+ through National Geographic Documentary Films.
