Gabriela Osio Vanden

Gabriela Osio Vanden is an award-winning Venezuelan-Canadian director and cinematographer based in Toronto. Her background in painting and dance is reflected in her work, which has premiered at major festivals such as TIFF, Camerimage, SXSW, IDFA, Sheffield DocFest, and True/False. She is a 2022 Hot Docs Fellow. Her thesis short film, The Rambler, earned her an internship with Phedon Papamichael ASC GSC, with whom she worked on Alexander Payne’s Downsizing. Gabriela holds a degree in Film Production from York University. Her latest short film, Nuisance Bear, premiered at TIFF and screened at over 120 film festivals. It garnered several awards, including the Critics’ Choice Award and Best Documentary Short at the Cinema Eye Honors. It was shortlisted for the 95th Academy Awards.
