Chris Schmid

Chris Schmid is an accomplished producer, director, and award-nominated cinematographer with over a decade of experience in nature storytelling. A Sony Ambassador and National Geographic Explorer, he creates cinematic and emotionally impactful films in some of the world’s most remote and demanding environments. Specializing in filming big cats and wildlife behavior, Chris combines a creative vision with a solid technical foundation in telephoto cinematography, high-speed filming, drone and gimbal operation, and underwater work. He received a Panda Award nomination for Best Cinematography at the prestigious Wildscreen Film Festival. As a director, his films Frozen Warriors, Okavango, and Unwavering have screened at international festivals and received multiple awards. His latest production, MUSKOX (2026, 60 minutes), is a cinematic journey to the Arctic exploring the extraordinary resilience of musk oxen.
