Abraham Joffe

Abraham Joffe ACS is an internationally renowned director, producer, and cinematographer, known for combining cinematic scale with rigorous environmental and investigative storytelling. He produced and directed the Southern Ocean episode of Our Oceans, Netflix’s flagship global series, produced and narrated by former President Barack Obama. The episode explores the planet’s most remote and least-known oceans and is considered one of the series’ best. In 2025, he released his first feature-length documentary, Trade Secret, an extensive investigation examining the global trade in polar bear fur and the intersection of conservation, trade, and politics. The film received the Wildscreen Gold Panda Award, considered the highest accolade in nature filmmaking. Previously, Abraham created, produced, and directed Tales by Light, a television series that followed leading photographers around the world. Initially broadcast on National Geographic before being acquired by Netflix for global distribution, the series aired for three seasons and received multiple cinematography awards from the Australian Society of Cinematographers.
He also produced Big Cat Tales, a series about lions, leopards, and cheetahs in Kenya’s Maasai Mara reserve, is distributed worldwide by Discovery Channel’s Animal Planet.

Abraham founded Untitled Film Works in 2000, a Sydney-based production company renowned for its innovative and impactful storytelling and use of emerging technologies. With extensive experience as an underwater cinematographer (over 25 years of diving), he was named Australian Cinematographer of the Year by the Australian Society of Cinematographers in 2017, receiving the prestigious Milli Award.

He has filmed in more than 50 countries across seven continents and continues to explore stories at the intersection of human behavior and the natural world, using film to reveal hidden systems and create meaningful change.
