Giovanny Rendón Castañeda

Giovanny Rendón is a director and audiovisual producer with over three decades of experience. His work is a constant search for meaning at the intersection of memory, landscape, and perspective. Co-founder of La Cifra Impar in 2015, he has made documentary filmmaking a space for aesthetic and political exploration, as well as delving into the diverse perspectives offered by science and art.

He co-directed the documentary series Otros caminos (Other Paths), winner of the 2022 Ángela Restrepo Moreno Journalism Award on Climate Change in the television category. He also co-directed the series Área silvestre (Wild Area), winner of the Environmental Journalism Award granted by Deutsche Welle, Señal Colombia, and Semana Sostenible in 2014. In addition, he has received two India Catalina Award nominations for the series Cazador de cascadas (Waterfall Hunter) (2022) and for cinematography in El Taller (The Workshop) (2021). He was the director and editor of the feature-length documentary Urabá, Green Heart of America in 2020. In 2008, he directed the series Ataque Sonoro, broadcast by Señal Colombia, which explored the musical world of rock bands in the country. His career includes the creation of experimental videos that have been featured at various festivals such as the 32nd Festival Les Instants Vidéo 2019 (France), Muyuna Festival de la Selva Flotante, Festival Vartex (2019), and Muestra Intermediaciones (2019).
